There are extra patrols at Palm Pointe Educational Research School at Tradition Thursday and Friday, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office said it was prompted by a social media post showing a vehicle driving past the school with people on the roof of the vehicle.

In addition, the vehicle has been reported throughout sections of Port St. Lucie, the sheriff's office said.

The St. Lucie County School District issued this statement:

St. Lucie Public Schools is working closely with local law enforcement partners to investigate a report of an alleged threat to Palm Pointe Research School at Tradition. All allegations of threats are treated seriously and are fully investigated. In an abundance of caution, additional uniformed and trained law enforcement officers are on campus to support a safe and secure learning environment for students and staff.

St. Lucie Public Schools would also like to remind parents and community members the importance of immediately reporting anything that does not look or sound right. Reporting information to 911 or utilizing one of the anonymous reporting apps such as Fortify Florida, See Something/Say Something, or Crime Stoppers are all positive and responsible manners in which to report concerns.
