Port St. Lucie police officer arrested for battery after domestic dispute

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A Port St. Lucie police officer is under arrest for battery after he was involved in a domestic dispute, authorities say.

According to the police department, 36-year-old Craphonso Thorpe was involved in a physical altercation while on duty on Nov. 8 around 11:15 p.m. with an individual he had been in a relationship with.

Police said Thorpe and the victim were involved in a verbal argument that turned physical. The victim sustained minor injuries, but didn't want medical treatment.

Thorpe was hired by the Port St. Lucie Police Department on Dec. 15, 2014. He's now on paid administrative leave during a criminal and internal investigation.

Thorpe is facing a a misdemeanor battery charge and is out of jail on bond.
