A man is facing several charges after a domestic violence investigation in Port St. Lucie.

A woman living in a home in the 2100 block of SW Trenton Lane claims her boyfriend of three years struck her with his hands and a gun and also threatened to shoot her, according to police.

They said she told them that she eventually escaped after he began destroying the residence.

When police arrived officers said they found a shattered rear slider door and blinds that had been destroyed.

Unable to make contact with anyone inside, a crisis negotiating team and SWAT team were called.

A remote-controlled robot was deployed inside the home by the SWAT team and the person inside eventually gave up, police said.

Officers arrested 36-year-old Christopher Donald Simicsak  and charged him with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (Domestic Related), Aggravated Battery (Domestic Related), Tampering with a Victim and Violation of Probation.

He was taken to the St. Lucie County Jail to be booked.
