The pedestrian struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning in St. Lucie County has died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Robert Hutchinson of Fort Pierce is believed to have been walking on the shoulder of southbound Sunrise Boulevard south of Bell Avenue when a vehicle hit him.
He was being treated for life-threatening injuries but later died at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center and Heart Institute, according to FHP.
Investigators do not have a description of the vehicle which continued to travel southbound on Sunrise Blvd.
The incident happened at 1:20 a.m. Wednesday.
