A man drowned at a beach in St. Lucie County near Fort Pierce Saturday afternoon, officials said.
The incident happened at Pepper Park Beachside at about 6 p.m., an hour after lifeguards left.
According to the National Weather Service, a high rip current advisory was in effect for the Treasure Coast until 8 p.m. Sunday.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
