This election season, one local non-profit hopes you'l vote from them to receive a $25,000 grant.

United Against Poverty is one of 200 finalists nationwide competing for 40 grants from State Farm Insurance.

UAP runs a grocery program in Fort Pierce that allows members at certain income levels to stretch their dollars further.

The grant would allow the organization to start up what it calls its STEP program or "Success Training for Employment."

“The participants would be recognized with certifications with regards to job placement, job training, forklift certification with OSHA.  So they can take that knowledge out into the workforce," said Manager Heath Parker.

Voting for the grant runs through November 4.  You can vote up to 10 times each day.  For where to go online, click here.
