A driver from Orlando died Wednesday night following a crash on the Florida Turnpike in St. Lucie County.
Brian J. Smith II, 26, was northbound when he struck the rear of a flatbed wrecker, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers say he failed to notice the wrecker was slowing down to tow a vehicle from a previous crash that was in the center median.
The wrecker had its overhead amber lights on at the time of the collision, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Smith II, who was driving a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta, died at the scene.
