OCEAN RIDGE, Fla. (WPTV) — Residents have decided to stay despite evacuation orders for Zones A and B in Ocean Ridge.

Some residents say they are encouraged by the trends they've seen on the radar. The worrisome part for a lot of people is what may happen during high tide with possibly worsening conditions.

"So, tonight might be really bad, we'll see, but we're just going to stay here, they're not throwing us out of the houses," said Ocean Ridge resident Todd Mulvaney.

A lot of homes in the area have hurricane shutters, but that won't necessarily protect oceanside homes from flooding.

Dorian is beginning to inch northward as it continues to pound Grand Bahama Island is likely to remain a major hurricane for the next few days.

The tropical storm force wind field is brushing against South Florida right now, and it will continue to linger Tuesday.
