The community honored two fallen officers Friday.
There were tributes in Delray Beach for officer John Daniel Kennedy and Sergeant Adam Rosenthal.
"Every year we have a memorial here. We've lost two officers in the line of duty, John Kennedy in 1974 and Adam Rosenthal in 2011. It gives us the opportunity to share with our community the amount of pride that we have in our profession and also to show them that we're real people and that this job does come with a price,” said Delray Beach Police Chief Jeff Goldman.
Officer Kennedy was just 32 when he was ambushed as he sat in his patrol car. He was shot and killed as he wrote a report. He was survived by five children and his wife who was pregnant at the time.
39-year-old Sergeant Rosenthal died when his patrol car crashed into a tree on his way to work.
He left behind a wife and four children.
