BOYTON BEACH, Fla. -- A bicyclist died after being run over by a vehicle Wednesday in Boynton Beach.

At 11:42 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, 72-year-old Larry Rifkin was riding a Trek bicycle eastbound on Woolbright Road in the bicycle lane approaching Indian Hills Apartments.

At the same time, a 54-year-old Boynton Beach woman was traveling northbound in a 2017 Infiniti QX50 on the exit/entrance of Indian Hills Apartments and had stopped for a stop sign at Woolbright Road.

The driver did not see Rifkin, and as his bicycle had almost cleared the intersection, the Infiniti began to make a right turn onto Woolbright Road.

The front of the Infiniti impacted with the rear tire of the bicycle, causing the bike to overturn.

The driver of the Infiniti ran over Rifkin before coming to a stop.

Rifkin was wearing a reflective vest and a bicycle helmet at the time of the crash.

He was transported to Delray Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 1:03 p.m.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Investigator D.L. Hyde at 561-681-4542.
