BOCA RATON, Fla. -- A woman died Wednesday morning in a traffic crash in Boca Raton.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says 23-year-old Marlyne Charpentier of North Lauderdale was driving her 2004 Toyota Camry eastbound on Palmetto Park Road Wednesday morning just before 8:30. Her vehicle was in the center lane just behind a 2015 Hyundai Accent.
Investigators say Charpentier failed to change lanes in sufficient time to avoid a collision with the Hyundai, which caused her vehicle to sideswipe the rear of the Hyundai.
After the impact of the two vehicles, Charpentier's Camry was redirected into a northeasterly direction and onto the median where her vehicle struck a palm tree.
According to the PBSO investigator, she was not wearing a seat belt.
Charpentier was transported to Delray Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased.
