Students at Boca Christian School spoke with an astronaut aboard the International Space Station

Students at Boca Christian School spoke with an astronaut aboard the International Space Station Monday.

The conversation ranged from spacewalks to colonizing Mars.

Students said speaking with the astronaut opened their eyes to opportunities in science and technology.

“I hope that they see space is not something that is completely out of their reach. It's something that everyone can grab a little piece of to take home with them and think about,” said high school junior Kevin Wiese.

The opportunity was made possible with the help of the Amateur Radio Association.

Club members used their own equipment to establish a connection with the space station.
