BOCA RATON, Fla. — A lockdown at Addison Mizner Elementary School in Boca Raton has been lifted following a suspicious incident on Tuesday afternoon, authorities say.

The Boca Raton Police Department said it was assisting the Broward Sheriff's Office with an investigation.

"Two subjects are believed to be on foot in the area and we are attempting to locate them," Boca Raton police tweeted around 3 p.m.

Addison Mizner Elementary School, located at 199 SW 12th Avenue, was put on code red lockdown Tuesday afternoon as a precaution.

But around 3:30 p.m., the school's principal, Joshua Davidow, informed parents that the lockdown had been lifted and school operations have resumed as normal.

During the code red lockdown, no one was allowed in or out of any buildings on campus, and everyone had to remain where they were.

In a message to parents, Davidow said all students and staff members are safe.
