An FAU student was robbed at gunpoint of a quarter pound of marijuana as well as $400 while selling drugs on the Boca Raton campus, according to police.
Kallel D. Hernandez, 19, faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of drug paraphernalia and false reports to law enforcement.
When police began investigating the incident they say Hernandez changed his story a couple of times. But police say they found text messages from Hernandez's phone indicating that he was not being truthful and that he and his friend were involved in illegal drug sales from their rooms in campus housing.
When confronted with the new information, police say Hernandez confirmed he was selling pot when he was robbed by 3 people in a car which was later seen driving erratically on university grounds.
Officers also questioned Khalil Javon Ellison, 19, whom Hernandez had been texting. He faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.
FAU did not want to comment on the ongoing investigation but reiterated that it has a zero tolerance to any criminal activity on university campuses. The school encourages all students, faculty and staff that if they “see something, do something,” by calling FAU Police at 561-297-3500.
