BOCA RATON, Fla. — Boca Raton city councilman Andy Thomson started 2019 with a resolution to start jogging more.

He's now added trash pick-up to that resolution after he was running to his gym.

"Maybe it was always there before, I am not sure, but I noticed almost every step I took there was a piece of trash," said Thomson.

He said he grabbed a bag at the gym and filled it up with trash on his run back home.

Since then, he's been posting on Facebook and trying to get more people involved.

"I am not running far, two to three miles, but I get a full bag wherever I go," Thomson said.

Last weekend, Thomson took his children out with him and he said they had fun playing the "finding trash" game.

Others have commented on his Facebook posts, saying they would like to start carrying bags while they walk or go running.

Thomson said he would like to see people from running groups get involved with filling up a bag every time they go out.

"I think we can clean our city even better than we have," said Thomson.

He said he’d love if people shared their thoughts or pictures with him on Facebook.
