Fire damages building in Okeechobee County

Posted

A heater could be to blame for a fire that heavily damaged C&S Salvage in Okeechobee County Tuesday, according to the sheriff's office.

The building, at 3257 Highway 441 North, houses 3 large storage areas along with an apartment.

The owner's daughter lives in the apartment and told investigators that when she left around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday an electric heater was on inside the building.

When they returned the structure was on fire.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating.

No serious injuries were reported.
