Storm Team 5 is warning boaters and swimmers of dangerous rip currents and a small craft advisory for boaters this week.
Through at least Wednesday, forecasters say people should be careful of the conditions on the water; breezy to windy northeasterly to easterly winds will create dangerous conditions in the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast.
If you become caught in a rip current, yell for help and remain calm. Do not exhaust yourself and stay afloat while waiting for help.
If you have to swim out of a rip current, swim parallel to shore and back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to swim directly against a rip current as you will tire yourself.
On Sunday, two kayakers got caught up in surf near the Jupiter Beach Resort.
A pair of teens are being heralded as heroes. The Tequesta Marine Unit says if it weren’t for Cauhl Cleary and Scott Jacobs, the two kayakers may not have survived.
