UPDATE: The 48-year-old owner of a Jaguar involved in a fatal crash Sunday on Interstate 95 near Hobe Sound was located at an address in Stuart.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Jack Edward Brown of Deerfield Beach was transported to a local hospital with injuries.
The northbound lanes of I-95 were closed for the investigation were back open by 9:15 a.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
EARLIER STORY:
A man is dead after his vehicle ran off the road and overturned when it was hit by another vehicle early Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The accident happened at 4:40 a.m. on northbound Interstate 95, just north of Indiantown Road.
Officials say 48-year-old Jack Edward Brown of Deerfield Beach is the owner of a white Jaguar that rear-ended a red Ford pickup truck. The pickup ran off the road and overturned.
It's unknown if Brown was driving the Jaguar at the time of the accident.
The pickup truck driver, 68-year-old Lawrence Melvin Alkema of Lake Park, Fla., died at the scene.
Officials are searching for Brown. He abandoned his vehicle a short distance up the road and fled on foot.
All northbound and southbound lanes of I-95 are shut down north of Indiantown Road near Hobe Sound.
Traffic is being redirected at Exit 87A.
