JUPITER -- One driver was injured in a crash on the drag strip at Palm Beach International Raceway on Friday night.
The unidentified male was involved in a single-vehicle crash, which caused extensive damage to the vehicle, according to Palm Beach Fire Rescue. The patient was transported to a local area trauma hospital for treatment of injuries.
Information on the crash was not available from a track official.
The 38th Annual Citrus Nationals is taking place from Friday through Sunday where vehicles top 200 mph on the quarter-mile drag strip.
Competing drag racing classes include Top Eliminator, Super Eliminator, Junior Dragsters, Quick 16 Door Cars and Quick 16 Dragsters.
On June 2, a motorcyclist was injured in a crash at the speedway.
On April 16, Nicolás Peralta Tort, the 18-year-old son of a Mexican billionaire, was the driver in a crash at the raceway in which his instructor, Peter London of Fort Lauderdale, was killed.
