PALM CITY, Fla-- President Barack Obama is spending some time on the Treasure Coast this weekend.
He didn’t have any planned events Saturday, just a little golf for the most part, but his visit is still the talk of the town.
Secret Service members have been scattered around the area along with an increased law enforcement presence.
He arrived Friday night at the St. Lucie County International Airport and eventually made his way to the Floridian National Golf Club.
“I think anytime you get someone as important as that to recognize somewhere like Palm City and Stuart it’s got to be good,” said John Monk, who is currently visiting Martin County.
Saturday Obama put his putt to the test. He braced the Florida heat with a few former Miami Heat players on the golf course.
It’s going to be a short trip for Mr. Obama. He’s leaving Sunday afternoon. However, a lot of folks are grateful he chose to stop in Palm City.
“Thanks for being president and thanks for coming to my town,” said Danielle Bryer, a Palm City resident.
The President flew to the Treasure Coast from Miami where he was doing some fundraising.
