A south Vero Beach man has been indicted for first degree murder in the death of his wife, according to Indian River County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Eric Flowers.

57-year-old Asbury Perkins is charged with killing his wife, 63-year-old Cynthia Betts, in a domestic dispute at their home on 2100 block of Seagrape Drive in early November.

Perkins had been arrested previously on domestic violence charges

Detectives say Perkins claimed he killed Betts for taking money from their bank account and because she "nagged" him.
