With the start of storm season just two weeks away, Palm Beach County leaders want you to be prepared.

On Wednesday, more than 150 county employees gathered at the Emergency Operations Center for a hurricane exercise.

They're also updating evacuation zones and emergency responses ahead of the start of hurricane season on June 1.

“We have new devices, we have new software, we have new equipment, we have new procedures,” said Bill Johnson, director of the Division of Emergency Management. “It's so important year after year to make sure that we're on our A game.”

Emergency officials stress the importance of having a disaster kit year-round.

They recommend having enough food, water and supplies to last for three days in your home.
