A new Social Security office opened Thursday in West Palm Beach after the old location had to be closed because employees were becoming ill.

The old office on Congress Avenue was closed in 2014 due to ventilation issues, which was part of a Contact 5 Team investigation that began three years ago.

A couple of smaller temporary offices were used until the new building was opened at 810 Clematis St.

“It's great looking. There’s space for services, so we're excited to be open in this location,” said employee Patti Patterson.

Workers at the Clematis Street office will help 170,000 Social Security recipients in the region.
