WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- A Palm Beach County mother cut a deal in court Friday morning and pleaded guilty to child neglect charges.
Last year, when Abrianna Miller was supposed to be supervising her children, prosecutors say she left the gate open and her two-year-old son ran outside and was hit and killed when another driver backed out of the driveway.
At the time, Miller was on probation for another child neglect incident.
When Miller arrived in court today, many were surprised to learn that she is pregnant with her ninth child.
Her guilty plea came after prosecutors say they had no choice but the reduce the original charge of aggravated manslaughter because Miller’s other children changed their story of what happened that day.
Under the plea agreement, Miller will serve three years behind bars.
Her family showed up at court to show their support.
"I'm just here for support. She’s doing great. Doing great. In good spirits," said one family member.
Since Miller is pregnant, both sides agreed she can stay in jail locally until she gives birth. That way the Florida Department of Families and Children can give the baby to a family member. Then she will be transferred to the Florida Department of Corrections.
