WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Court records in Florida say a man accused of driving 50 mph (80 kph) over the speed limit in a 2017 fatal hit-and-run crash has pleaded guilty.
The Palm Beach Post cites the records in a Monday report as saying 30-year-old Michael Junior Brown took a plea deal. He pleaded guilty Thursday to vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of the crash.
Investigators say Brown was driving a Hertz rental car 87 mph (140 kph) in a 35 mph (56 kph) zone when he hit and killed 32-year-old Ishmael Grandison Jr. in West Palm Beach.
According to the plea deal, Brown was sentenced to 10 years in prison and 10 years of probation with the chance for early termination after five years. It's unclear if he has a lawyer who could comment.
