If you were planning on leaving your shutters up until the end of hurricane season -- think again.
Some cities and towns are threatening homeowners with fines if they leave shutters up longer than two weeks after a storm.
According to the Sun Sentinel, the Village of Royal Palm Beach has issued a dozen notices to people who have not taken down their shutters or plywood since Hurricane Matthew.
If they are cited, fines could reach up to $250.
The Village issues special storm protection extension permits till Nov. 30 to homeowners who are out of town during the entire storm season.
