An emotional tribute as 81 war veterans were welcomed home after a day of reflection in Washington DC. 52 World War II veterans and 29 Korean War veterans arrived at Palm Beach International.

Barbara Sandy eagerly awaited the arrival of her husband Edward who is a World War II veteran.

He spent the day in our nations capital.

"Missed him today and I'm waiting to see him now," says Barbara.

Edward is one of 81 veterans from South Florida that visited Washington DC visiting memorials to commemorate their service. A day of reflection.

The most special moment though was the welcome home.

"Trying to replica the fact they're just coming back from overseas, we're welcoming them we even do a mail call on the flight."

An emotional homecoming for all. Edward Sandy was at a loss for words as he reunites with his wife Barbara.

"Couldn't ask for anything better."
