PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — A passenger was killed Tuesday afternoon after a van crashed on Interstate 95 southbound in Palm Beach Gardens.
At 4:30 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol said a 2005 Chevrolet van was heading south on I-95 in the left, center lane just north of Military Trail.
The van experienced a tire malfunction, causing the driver, Yordin Carlos Diaz, 21, of Delray Beach, to lose control.
The van overturned several times and came to final rest partially between the HOV lane and the left center lane.
The front seat passenger, Miguel Martinez, 32, of Delray Beach was pronounced dead at the scene. Diaz suffered minor injuries.
FHP said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
