The number of people flying during the Christmas season is up three percent from last year.
Airlines have been changing flight times and adding extra flights to accommodate the crowds. They also have extra staff on-hand to make sure holiday travel goes smoothly.
Rain and fog in the Northeast caused about 5,300 delays and 430 cancelations across the country Wednesday. More are expected Thursday due to rain and snow out West.
Travelers are asked to arrive at airports early and plan for extra time in line for security.
