WELLINGTON, Fla. — Inspired by the recent death of Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office K-9 Cigo, the Rotary Club of Wellington is raising money to buy bulletproof vests for police dogs.
Cigo was shot and killed on Christmas Eve while trying to stop a suspect who was fleeing from deputies outside the Wellington mall.
This Rotary Club of Wellington is holding a raffle called "Kevlar for K9's" to raise funds for protective vests for police dogs.
Raffle tickets are $100 each and can be purchased at the Rotary Club of Wellington's website. (right hand side of the screen.)
The club says the raffle winner will receive a third of the proceeds, which is an estimated $10,000. The raffle drawing is scheduled for May 16.
