WELLINGTON, Fla. — The Village of Wellington is looking for ideas and opinions on what to do with a small part of its signature lake.
"It is a blank slate and as far as the waterfront property the village owns we could do anything," says Wellington Mayor Anne Gerwig.
The village is looking towards a town center project along the southern shore of the lake near the village’s community center.
On Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., residents are being asked to take part in roundtable discussions at the Village Park Gymnasium.
Mayor Gerwig says concepts for the site have moved away from a lakefront development to a more town center approach.
"If we're going to have commercial components that people are asking for like shops and things like that we're going to need some business interests to step up to the plate and say they want to partner with us,” Mayor Gerwig says.
