Riviera Beach Mayor Thomas Masters was issued a traffic citation Friday evening.
Riviera Beach police said Masters was cited for speeding and for operating his vehicle while his driver's license was either suspended, canceled or revoked. Police did not specify which one of those conditions applied to his license.
Police said the citation was issued during routine traffic enforcement.
Masters was issued a notice to appear and released at the scene.
The mayor's attorney Richard A. Ryles said Masters will contest the citation. Ryles said there may have been a paperwork error for the mayor's license that could have caused it to be invalid.
