The owner of a controversial floating home off Singer Island says he’s not giving up his dream of building a floating home community.

Over the weekend Fane Lozman had to demolish his floating home. He believes someone intentionally damaged it beyond repair.

“I’m not going to be intimidated,” said Lozman Monday. “No one intimidates me. This is a wonderful property.”

Lozman says all of this has only motivated him more to move forward with those plans for a floating home community.

The floating home started to sink last week. Lozman tried to refloat it, but couldn’t.

“Someone wanted my floating home to go down and [Sunday] I filed a police report,” he said.

Riviera Beach Police confirmed Lozman filed a report Sunday. The department also confirmed that he filed a report at the beginning of the month after he says someone vandalized his floating home. That incident is partly why Lozman says he believes someone intentionally sunk his home.

The idea of a floating home community has been controversial. Many neighbors are against it because of environmental concerns.

Lozman is no stranger to controversy.  For years he’s fought with Riviera Beach over what he can and can't do with his floating homes.

Right now there is an on-going fight for an address, which Lozman says he still needs to move forward with the plans. However, the city won't comment on the matter saying it's pending litigation. Lozman could apply for a permit to fill in the submerged land and build conventional housing. However, he believes the floating home community is a better option from an ecological standpoint.
