Police said a 16-year-old boy has died after being shot in Riviera Beach Thursday night.
The incident happened around 9:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of West 28th St. near President Barack Obama Highway.
Riviera Beach Fire Rescue responded and transported the teen to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, but he was later pronounced dead.
Riviera Beach police spokeswoman Rose Anne Brown said they received a call from a 23-year-old man who said he had shot the teen.
The man led officers to the gun he said he used and also reported that he had shot in self-defense because the teen had shot at him.
Police said this is an ongoing investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Riviera Beach police at (561) 845-4123 or Crime Stoppers at 800 458-TIPS.
