PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla.-- Call it an opportunity of a lifetime and a chance to represent Palm Beach County on the national stage.
The dance team at Park Vista High School was chosen to be part of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade in New York City. The only problem is they don't have the funds to go.
If you watch them dance, their energy is contagious and so are their smiles. It's a small squad big in personality with a big opportunity in front of them. So they are on that mission to get to New York City to perform. Their rank at the national championship got them the special slot in the parade.
"I've dreamed of this since I was little," said Andraya Zabielski, a dance team member.
"This is one of those memories you will tell generations to come, and it will mean everything for these girls to tell their children," said Amanda Zabielski, a member of the team.
The team needs to raise somewhere in the range of $70,000 for flights, hotels, uniforms, and meals. For some families, understandably, the cost is just too much. They've raised a little but need a lot more help.
They're looking to corporate sponsors.
"It's hard for us to afford such an expensive trip," said Brianna Krammer, captain of the team. "It would mean so much to us if we could go."
"A lot of people have told us you guys are crazy, you are never going to get there. We know that we have to at least try," said coach Jennifer Neiner.
