Tickets are available for the 2016 Women of Grace Luncheon, honoring local women and raising money for the Bethesda Hospital Foundation.
During the last 16 years, the event has raised more than $1 million to benefit Bethesda’s Center for Women and Children.
This year’s event starts at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10 at The Mar-a-Lago Club.
WPTV NewsChannel 5 Anchor Ashleigh Walters will serve as the Bid from the Heart auctioneer.
Several local women will be honored at this year’s event:
- Michelle Suskauer, WPTV legal contributor who also works with the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, Inc.
- Diane Wilde of Dress for Success Palm Beaches
- Betti Lidsky of Hope for Vision
- Nancy Dockerty of Delray Beach Public Library
- Valerie Mathieu of Caps of Love
- Jessica Kian, a student in the Honors Program at the University of Florida
The hospital is near and dear to some who have formed key relationships between caregiver and patient. One of a set of triplets is having his trach tube removed Friday after two years of health struggles.
The family says they have trusted the hospital since birth and returned to the facility for the procedure. A nurse in the NICU or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit adopted a baby who had been abandoned, having fallen in love with the child in her care.
This year, organizers of the event hope to raise enough money to purchase new giraffe transport beds for babies in the NICU. The beds keep premature babies safe during a crucial and delicate stage of development. Money raised will also support the purchase of new labor and delivery beds and equipment.
The event also aims to please attendees with glamorous raffle prizes, including a stay and spa experience at Breakers Palm Beach, which includes perks for 11 guests. Prizes also include one-of-a-kind jewelry, orthodontic treatments and a stay in the Bahamas.
