Several fishing teams will be hitting the water off Singer Island Friday morning in an effort to raise money for our troops.

The event, called Operation Sailfish, has several fishing teams trying to catch and release as many sailfish as they can over a two-day period.

Sailfish are known for their spectacular jumps and speed, some reaching up to 68 mph.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Operation Homefront, a military-based charity to help the men and women who served our armed forces.

The fishermen will be leaving Singer Island around 6:15 a.m. to compete in the tournament.
