Pet Haven Rescue in Loxahatchee is organizing a trip to Houston.
Volunteers are looking to bring food and supplies to animals in need.
The rescue also plans on taking animals from shelters in the area, so those shelters in turn can take in more animals that are need of help.
As they make their way back to Florida, Pet Haven will then drop off the animals to other shelters in the region.
"What started of as literally an idea yesterday morning has just kinda spiraled, which is so exciting," says Jessica Nicodemo with Pet Haven.
Other organizations are stepping up to help as well.
Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue in Royal Palm Beach and Tri-County animal shelter in Boca Raton are also sending supplies and volunteers to Houston.
The Tri County animal shelter says donations are pouring in, as they prepare to load up a trailer with pet supplies and make the 2,000 plus mile trip to Houston.
"Hopefully we can make multiple trips, depending on what our resources allow," says Tri-County operations manager Allen Trowbridge.
Peter Torres with Justin Bartlett says they have a plan in place as well.
"The goal is to bring them here, to our location, to the hospital have the vet triage them and then put them in a foster home," Torres says.
Torres says they could always use more fosters.
"If you're able to foster, step up, step up to the plate."

Tri- County Animal Shelter
This charity is collecting donations for the animals in Houston who are suffering from the aftermath of Harvey.
A trailer donated by Horses & Hounds Charity is at TCAR location in Boca Raton, 21287 Boca Rio Rd., waiting to be loaded with donated supplies from animal lovers in our community.
They are asking for the following supplies to be donated: unopened dog and cat food, bedding, blankets, water, medical supplies, leashes, collars.
Tri-County Animal Rescue plans to head to Texas on Sunday but say they doubt that will be the only trip. As long as donations are coming in, they will continue to make trips to help animals in need.
You can also drop off donations at Holistic Pet Cuisine at 1000 Clint Moore Rd. The company is donating thousands of dollars worth of supplies to the effort.
