Lantana police say a Brightline train struck and killed a woman Wednesday evening February 13.
It happened around 5:40 p.m. on the tracks just north of Hypoluxo Road, according to police.
They said an investigation determined the woman was connected to a suspected shoplifting incident at the nearby K-Mart shortly before being hit by the train.
K-Mart loss prevention witnessed shoplifting involving two women, according to a Lantana investigator. He said a loss prevention officer told the women to stay put but one ran.
Police said neither police nor loss prevention chased her.
She has not yet been identified.
