Two adults, three children, a dog and a cat were displaced by a fire that started in a shed in the back of a Lake Worth home, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue.
The incident happened at 7:17 p.m. in the 1300 block of North J Street.
Firefighters say a large column of smoke was visible from several blocks away.
Crews reported heavy black smoke from the shed, which they say was in close proximity to the home.
The fire at the shed was extinguished but flames caused damage to the back wall of the home where the power meter was located, officials say.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
