A popular nineties rap artist is taking a stand against Lou Gehrig's disease.
Today at his Lake Worth home, Vanilla Ice helped to launch the SLAM ALS campaign to find a cure.
To kick it off, he slammed an ALS ice sculpture.
Similar to the ice bucket challenge, he's calling on you to make a video slamming something for ALS and to post it to social media.
Vanilla ice says he was inspired to join the campaign because his grandfather died from ALS.”I used to watch him play the banjo and have fun and he kind of shriveled up,” said Vanilla Ice. “It's kind of a cruel disease. You get skinny, bones and your muscles start to deteriorate.”
You can post videos to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #slamALS and and to @slam_ALS and insert three people you’d like to challenge.
The campaign SLAM ALS was founded by mother and daughter Deborah and Madison Silver. Deborah's sister has been battling the disease for seven years.
The SLAM ALS website is slamALS.org.
