FHP career fair held tonight

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is actively recruiting across the state and you can attend a career fair tonight to learn more.

The event will assist potential applicants in processing and screening for the application process.

This comes as Governor Rick Scott pushes for a pay raise for state law enforcement officers. He's asking for a 5% raise which would come out to about $120 a month for thousands of state employees, however corrections officers are not included at this time.

The minimum qualifications to join the FHP are as follows:
· United States Citizen;
· High School graduate or equivalent;
· Minimum of 19 years old at time of application (no maximum age restriction);
· Valid driver license; and
· One of the following - one year of law enforcement experience (sworn or non-sworn); two years of public contact experience; two years of active continuous U.S. military service with an honorable discharge; completed 30 semester or 45-quarter hours of college credit from an accredited college or university.

The Communications Center is located south of the Service Plaza behind the Florida
Highway Patrol stations. Please park south of the Communications Center.
