GREENACRES, Fla. — A bicyclist was hit and killed by a car in Greenacres on Monday morning.
Greenacres Fire Rescue responded to the area of 10th Avenue North and Perry Avenue just before 6 a.m. and found the bicyclist dead.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO), they are now treating the case as a hit-and-run and asking the public for info.
The crash report states that the bicyclist was traveling west on 10th Ave. N was in the bike lane approaching Perry Ave., when the front passenger side of a black Kia Sorento, also traveling west, struck the bicyclist.
The bicyclist was thrown from the bike and ended up on the grassy shoulder of the intersection. The vehicle left the scene.
The bicyclist was declared dead at the scene.
PBSO says based on parts found at the scene, the Kia Sorento is a 2020-2026 model. PBSO says the driver and vehicle have now been located.
