Volunteers in Palm Beach Gardens were hard at work all weekend preparing Thanksgiving meals for families in need.
At the Big Heart Brigade's 26th annual event, volunteers shredded turkey, scooped mashed potatoes and boxed other food so families in need can have a Thanksgiving meal on their table.
There's so many in our community that don't have the resources that don't have the means to provide for themselves particularly now at the holiday season,” said Big Heart Brigade Secretary Treasurer Chuck Dettman. “The need is here. We're a small part of what the need really is.”
The goal Sunday was to box up 50,000 meals.
Organizers said they plan to send a portion of the meals to help families in the Florida Panhandle affected by Hurricane Michael.
