TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Under a newly proposed bill in Tallahassee, you could pay more to drink out of cans or bottles, but would get the money back by recycling them afterward.

This "Bottle Bill" is proposed by State Sen. Kevin Rader of southern Palm Beach County, who wants to bring the idea of container deposits to Florida. He believes this will increase recycling and reduce litter.

The bill calls for adding a 20- to 30-cent tax on drinks in plastic, glass or aluminum containers. Then, if you bring those back to a grocery store or a redemption center, you'd get that amount of money back in a refund.

Ten states already have a similar law.

Some believe this punishes people who are already recycling at home while others say it benefits the environment.
