UPDATE: Police report that there is no evidence of a firearm discharge. Police operations are complete.
Walter Reed National Military Medical Center was on lockdown for several hours Monday after a reported gunshot at the Bethesda, Maryland campus, Montgomery County Police said.
Police were clearing buildings and escorting personnel out. All patient care was suspended for today.

Call received at approx. 10:48 a.m. for report of single shot heard on Walter Reed campus. Officers have not confirmed initial report.

Personnel were told to shelter in place, the U.S. Navy said, while police and federal authorities cleared the buildings. No injuries were reported.
