A tiger was found roaming near a residential community unattended while wearing a collar and leash shortly before noon today in Conroe, Texas, a small town about one hour north of Houston. The Conroe Police Department reports on its Facebook page that animal control officers were able to locate and safely capture the tiger.
It was not immediately clear who owns the tiger or why the wild animal was walking freely. The department is asking anyone with information on the female tiger to contact them at 936-522-3200. No injuries were reported.
Texas law governs the keeping of wild animals and imposes registration and insurance requirements on owners, the Houston Chronicle reports.
