Police suspect a cocktail of morphine and Gatorade is what killed a teenager in Cheatham County, Tennessee.
Detectives said the 17-year-old boy was found unresponsive Friday morning at a home in Joelton, Tenn..
The teen was transported to two separate hospitals in the Nashville area before he died shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Detectives believed the teen drank the mixture sometime Thursday night. A friend called police around 11:30 Friday morning when he wouldn’t wake up.
Authorities said they expect to charge the person who sold the drug to the teen with second-degree murder. They expected to learn more information once the autopsy and toxicology report returned.
Morphine and Gatorade is just the latest lethal cocktail that has claimed the life of a Tennessee teen. In January, two teens died after drinking a mixture of racing fuel and Mountain Dew.
