Richard Glatzer, the writer and director of "Still Alice" died on Tuesday, The Associated Press reported.
Glatzer completed several projects, including "Quinceanera", "Pedro" along with "Still Alice," which he worked on with his husband, Wash Westmoreland.
Westmoreland, worked together on the film together after Glatzer was diagnosed with ALS. ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Glatzer was 63.
Despite the illness, Glatzer never missed a day of filming, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Julianne Moore won the best actress Oscar for the "Still Alice," which was about a university professor with Alzheimer's disease.
Glatzer and Westmoreland won the audience award and grand jury prize for film "Quinceanera" at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival.
