A 13-year-old Pennsylvania girl was found dead in a creek on Sunday, about two days after she went missing while en route to buy a coloring book, according to family members.

Citing Pennsylvania State Police, Time reports that Shevy McGiffin disappeared in Clarion County after making her way to a nearby store.

A search led to authorities finding her body in a creek near the Clarion River. Police are investigating what led to the incident.

Shevy’s parents believe their daughter must have been kidnapped and killed. Her father told WPXI, “She’s so sweet. She’s quiet. She would never run away, I know that. And she loves her family.”

An online fundraising page set up to assist Shevy’s family with funeral expenses has collected more than $11,000 in just one day.
